چکیده

Naturally occurring gas hydrates are regarded as an important future source of energy and considerable efforts are currently being invested to develop methods for an economically viable recovery of this resource. The recovery of natural gas from gas hydrate deposits has been studied by a number of researchers. Depressurization of the reservoir is seen as a favorable method because of its relatively low energy requirements. While lowering the pressure in the production well seems to be a straight forward approach to destabilize methane hydrates, the intrinsic kinetics of CH4-hydrate decomposition and fluid flow lead to complex processes of mass and heat transfer within the deposit. In order to develop a better understanding of the processes and conditions governing the production of methane from methane hydrates it is necessary to study the sensitivity of gas production to the effects of factors such as pressure, temperature, thermal conductivity, permeability, porosity on methane recovery from naturally occurring gas hydrates. A simplified model is the base for an ensemble of reservoir simulations to study which parameters govern productivity and how these factors might interact. OPEN ACCESS Energies 2014, 7 2149

Development of Hydrate Formation Phase Envelope: An Experimental Approach in One of the Iranian Gas Reservoirs

Iran's proved natural gas reserves are the world's second largest reserves. Mainly, because of different climate changes and different reservoirs characterizations, studying the behavior of producing outcome fluids and their transportation, is of major interest. One of the main problems occur in the gas reservoirs is related to the hydrate formation while producing from a well, either in produc...

Nondestructive natural gas hydrate recovery driven by air and carbon dioxide

Current technologies for production of natural gas hydrates (NGH), which include thermal stimulation, depressurization and inhibitor injection, have raised concerns over unintended consequences. The possibility of catastrophic slope failure and marine ecosystem damage remain serious challenges to safe NGH production. As a potential approach, this paper presents air-driven NGH recovery from perm...

Simulation and Assessment of Surfactant Injection in Fractured Reservoirs: A Sensitivity Analysis of some Uncertain Parameters

Fracture reservoirs contain most of the oil reserves of the Middle East. Such reservoirs are poorly understood and recovery from fractured reservoirs is typically lower than those from conventional reservoirs. Many efforts have been made to enhance the recovery and production potential of these reservoirs. Fractured reservoirs with high matrix porosity and low matrix permeability need a seconda...

Modeling of Methane Hydrate Decomposition by Using Chemical Affinity

In this work, experimental kinetics data of methane hydrate decomposition at temperatures ranging from 272.15 to 276.15 K and at pressures ranging from 10 to 30 bars were modeled by using chemical affinity. This model proposed a macroscopic model which is independent of any intermediate mechanism like heat or mass transfer. The results show there is good agreement with experimental data. Al...
